Bonsai Man Branches Out!

Regular readers of our web news items will recall in one of our ‘meet the team’ series we featured our Sales Manager ‘green fingers’ Darren Mackay who revealed his expertise in growing bonsai trees. Now after 9 years at Micromech he has decided that it was time for a change, and its not just a little one!

Darren is going into business for himself running a garden centre and of course it will include a bonsai nursery.

Commenting on his drastic change of career Darren has told us “I have thoroughly enjoyed the years I have spent at Micromech and had this opportunity not presented itself I think I would have been working here until I retired! However gardening in general (and bonsai in particular) has been a passion of mine for many years therefore a chance to make my living from something I already do at the moment for fun, seemed too good to miss!”

Darren’s exciting venture is based in Hockley and called New Hall Garden Centre and will be fully operational in December 2005 so if you are in the neighbourhood, need advice or a Christmas tree, then drop in.

He will be missed by his many friends and colleagues at Micromech who all wish him well and lots of success in his horticultural enterprise.

Never missing an opportunity Darren’s last words to us were “I too wish Micromech and everyone working here all the best for the future” then quickly adding “and I feel sure I will be popping in from time to time to see how everyone is doing and maybe selling a few houseplants or bags of compost!”
