Micromech Robotics is pleased to make a bit of a splash with the amazing new Legend XE (Xtreme Environment) which features a rugged stainless steel housing IP68 rating for dust, high humidity, wash-down and corrosive protection. The exterior of the camera has few creases and edges, which can trap food bacteria or particles, so producing a smooth case design that allows for easier cleaning.

The system incorporates the Legend 550 camera uses the Texas Instruments DSP technology and has increased memory. This means it can operate at speeds up to eight times faster than the already well established high-speed Legend 540.

These smart cameras are simply nodes on a network that aquire and process data to robotics and motion controllers, report inspection results for QA, deliver part tracking and inventory control. Using standard Ethernet communications the sensors support TCP/IP, Modbus/TCP, and EtherNet/IP, and as an option there is a module for Profibus and DeviceNet.

The vision system also comes with free vision software license and free upgrades, free classroom and online training, and free online technical support.

Therefore for tough environments and particularly the food industry where regulated wash-down is obligatory only DVT offers a stainless steel housing with this stringent rating.
