The first line scan camera - a vision report from DVT

The Legend LS can replace the need for clusters of high-resolution cameras and unwraps cylindrical objects for label inspection. Using an encoder feature in FrameWork 3.0 software, the scanner will provide consistent sampling for a number of applications. The machine vision system will run the full array of FrameWork tools and in some cases will be suitable for applications that formerly required a cluster of high-resolution cameras. This will result in more power for the end user at a lower price point.

The Legend LS Line Scan vision system incorporates the Texas Instruments DSP processor, the Line Scan Legend LS has a 2K linear sensor yielding images up to 18,000 lines per second.
The scanner will have a major impact on two application types, unwrapping cylindrical objects for label inspection and scanning an object to obtain a high-resolution image.

Like all DVT machine vision products this new device also comes with free training, free software, and free support. The company is the only machine vision organisation to offer a support model that includes free classroom, online and CD-based training, free software and software upgrades, and free online technical support.

DVT invented the Smart Camera in 1990, introduced Ethernet capability in 1998, produced the first mega-pixel high resolution camera in 2001, and developed the SpectroCam in 2002, the first smart camera to use a prismatic system for extremely precise colour measurements. They recently launched the extreme speed 55x series, with a 4,000 mips DSP processor, and the 510 fully functioning camera at an extremely competitive price.
