MOTOMAN develops and manufactures articulated-arm robots and servo-powered positioners for applications such as handling, assembling, palletising, glueing, material removal, grinding, polishing, water jet cutting, arc welding and spot welding. Industries served include automotive, food, pharmaceutical and manufacturing in general.

Robots are available in many different sizes with payloads from 3 kg up to 400 kg. Most models may be supplied in a number of variants, for example with larger reach or higher speed.

MOTOMAN standard positioners are designed in a large number of combinations with payloads from 250 kg to 10.000 kg. Twin-station positioners minimize idle time for loading and unloading. All axes of the positioner(s) are controlled by the robot controller which makes synchronised motion possible.

The latest XRC controller allows 27 separate axes to be controlled simultaneously. It is a major advance in that it is the first with the capability to control three 6-axis robots and synchronise their movements with a variety of other equipment such as gantry systems, linear tracks and rotary indexers.

As well as having increased functionality, the new controller incorporates refinements such as variable collision sensitivity, whilst advanced robotic motion control optimises acceleration, deceleration and speed for circular and corner movements. Likewise, inertial compensation via the path control function maintains path accuracy during high speed movements.

Programming of the system is via a hand held pendant with multi-lingual display. Compatibility with Ethernet, Profibus, Interbus-S, Device-NET and other factory networks allows the system to be controlled and monitored remotely.
